What a duo chat is

A duo chat is one press. You tap start, and you and one other person land on the same screen — nobody else. There’s no room to join, no list to scroll, no queue to sit in.

Both of you got there the same way: you pressed a button a second ago. That’s the whole thing either of you knows, and it turns out to be enough to start talking.

If the person isn’t for you, skip, and the next one is already being connected. Nothing gets installed, no profile gets filled in, and your first duo chat doesn’t need an account.

One seam, three ways to open it

you

Video

Both cameras on. Use it when you want to see who you’re talking to — with a stranger, faces do most of the work. Your browser asks for camera and microphone once, and you can shut your own camera off mid-chat without hanging up.

camera off

Voice

Your mic is on and your camera never opens. Good for late hours, a room you’d rather not put on screen, or practising a language where you only need the talking. The other side sees a plain initial where your video would be.

where are you from?
a train, badlyyou

Text

Nothing to show and nothing to hear. Pick text when you want to talk without being looked at, or when you’re somewhere you can’t use sound. No camera or microphone permission is asked for at all, so the browser never prompts.

Same connection either way — a duo video call, a voice line, or plain text. You pick how far it opens before you start, and you can shut your camera mid-chat without hanging up.

When people open one

Awake at 3am

Everyone you know is asleep and you’d rather not be the reason one of them isn’t. Somewhere else it’s the middle of the afternoon.

Practising a language

You want the messy part — real speed, real accents, being interrupted. No lesson to book, and nothing riding on the conversation going well.

A new city, nobody in it

You moved and your address book stayed behind. Talking to someone for ten minutes is a much smaller step than making a friend.

No overlap on purpose

Sometimes the appeal is a person with no connection to your life: doesn’t know your job, your friends, or what you said last week.

Not clicking? Close it.

Skip and you’re on to the next person straight away. Nobody is told why, nobody sees a reason, and there are no ratings — leaving isn’t something you have to explain. If a chat goes somewhere you don’t want, report and block are inside the chat and work while it’s still open, and reports are looked at around the clock.

Why two, and not a room

In a room you wait your turn. Ten people are typing, two are performing, and the rest are deciding whether you’re worth answering. Even the good rooms make you audition.

A duo chat takes that out. One other person, there for the same reason you are, and neither of you has an audience to play to. A one on one conversation gets further in five minutes than an hour of a busy channel, because nothing said in it is a performance.

It also means there’s nothing to filter. You can’t pick a gender, a country or a topic here, and we won’t pretend otherwise. Filters turn a connection into a search, and a search is what makes you wait. Random is the reason a duo video chat starts the moment you press the button.

Starting is free.

Your first chat needs no account and no card. After that the site runs on coins: you buy a number of them outright, you spend them, and when they run out nothing happens on its own — no quiet charge for a month you never opened. There’s a monthly option as well if you’d rather have one, but nothing here needs it, and stopping after the free first chat is a normal way to use this.

FAQ

Not for your first chat. Open the page, press start and you’re connected. An account only comes into it later, when you want to keep coins on it.

No. It runs in the browser tab you’re already in, on a phone or a laptop. There’s nothing to install, nothing to update and nothing sitting on your home screen afterwards.

Yes. Voice keeps your camera shut and only opens your mic, and text asks for neither. You can also switch your own camera off in the middle of a video chat without ending it.

No. Matching is random and can’t be locked to a gender, a country or a topic. That’s also why it starts immediately — there’s nothing to set up and no queue to wait in.

Starting is free and your first chat needs no account or card. After that it runs on coins, which you buy outright in whatever amount you want — you spend them, and when they’re gone nothing happens on its own. There’s a monthly option as well if you’d rather, but coins don’t need one.

The chat ends and you’re handed the next person. They get no notification, no reason and no rating — from their side it looks the same as anyone leaving. Nothing about that chat is kept for you to explain.

Close it, and you’re out. Report and block are in the chat itself, so you can use them while it’s still open, and reports are reviewed around the clock. You never have to stay in a conversation to be polite about it.

Usually the browser permission was declined, or another program still has the camera open. Allow camera access for this site in your browser settings, close anything else using it, then start a new chat.

No. It’s only ever two people — no rooms, no channels, no audience watching. That’s the whole idea behind the name, and there’s no larger space to move a conversation into.

One tap and there’s someone there.

Nothing to install. Close the tab whenever you want.
